I gave my first speech!
Well, I can’t say it’s my first speech because I gave one to high schoolers in South Korea when I was in their country to sing at the Winter Olympics in 2018. They didn’t understand English, so that was fun!!
But this week I told my story to over 100 women at a luncheon. I titled it “Unwritten,” which I thought was pretty clever because that was the song I was eliminated to when I was a finalist on American Idol back in 2006.
I told the women about my story and how my story is STILL being written, just like the words in that awesome song by Natasha Beddingfield. What will YOUR story be like? As you go through the chapters of your life, remember that you will face MANY ups and downs.
I look at the chapters in the book that I’m still creating and think, “wow, I really messed up on that page,” or “Oh my gosh, look at what I accomplished here!”
Life is all about ups and downs but in order to write YOUR story (I capitalize the word “your”) because it’s up to YOU. It’s not up to your husband, or your friends, or your kids, or your boss…it’s up to YOU to write your book the way you think it should be written.
I really enjoyed telling my story. My hands were icicles because I was so nervous, but I left with a steaming hot heart because it was so full with love. and pride.
Thanks you to Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber of Commerce for having me!!
